How to Entertain Kids on Easter Holiday Car Journeys

Easter is fast approaching which means for many a visit to see the family or even long road trip to get away for a couple of days.

We often notice a spike in short term leasing over the school holidays, as families can take one of our cars such as an MPV or 4x4 for a month or two and then simply hand it back when the kids return to school. Perfect, hey?

However, when customers come to pick up their vehicles, we often get the feeling that they’re not looking forward to the long drives that the holidays can bring with them – and one of the most frequent dilemmas is always “how on earth am I going to entertain the kids?”.

So we put our heads together in the office and wanted to share some of our top tips that’ll help you to keep your young ones entertained and banish the question “are we there yet?”

  1. Everyone loves a good car game as everyone can get involved and it can really distract the kids too. A top favourite is the alphabet game. Starting with the letter A, you have to name something like fruit, vegetable or place beginning with that letter. The next person then has to name one beginning with B, then C and so on. There are many variations with this game and it can be used with any topic which helps you out if you want to play it a second time round.
  2. Another great car game Car Bingo. For this, you have to a pick a certain colour or make of car, and the person who sees their car ten times first wins. It’s simple and is a great way to distract the kids.
  3. 21 questions is also an absolute classic. It allows everyone to use their imaginations and to really think hard about what the answer could be. All you have to do is think of a person or object and everyone else has 21 questions to figure out what it is.
  4. A classic for the kids is Top Trumps. There are numerous types of this card game, wonders of the world, characters, sea life creatures and the list continues. Each card has categories on them and the one with the highest points wins.
  5. If you have the luxury of a portable DVD player, this would be great for the kids. However, make sure you agree on what films they want to watch ahead of the journey - you don’t want them arguing over what film they want to watch!

We hope this proves useful and good luck for your journey ahead!
