What documents do you need to rent a car?
If you’re looking to lease a car it is important that you have the correct documentation to do so. The documents needed to lease a car may differ depending on your driving plans, whether you are leasing for business or personal use and which company you choose to lease from. We always recommend you contact the company beforehand to make sure you have everything you need and to make the renting process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
At Cars On Demand, we offer leases for both business customers and personal customers.
Business customers will need:
- Complete online application form
- Three months of recent bank statements
- VAT returns and/or recent utility bills
- Company accounts information
If the business wishes to lease higher value vehicles, additional information and security may be required.
Personal customers will need:
- Completion of online application form
- Utility bill from the last three months
- A copy of driver’s licence
- A copy of passport
For non - homeowners, depending on the car and the specific lease desired, a copy of a property leasehold agreement may be required as well as recent bank statements.

Further to this, drivers from outside the UK may need to show proof of travel and accommodation while in the UK, a green card or an International Driving Permit.
As there is still uncertainty about what will happen when the UK leaves the EU, these are the current requirements, please note that these may change after 31st October 2019.
